Our Story

Thoughtful essentials for bigger cats—and the people who know them best.

Life with a Maine Coon has its own scale. The beds need more usable room. The brushes need to work through a dense, long coat. The everyday routine has to account for more fur, more reach and a great deal of personality.

Fernva grew from a simple question: why should owners of bigger cats have to guess whether an ordinary pet product will truly fit?

When “one size fits all” does not fit

Large cats are often shown in products that look generous in a photograph but provide little information about internal space, weight capacity, stability or cleaning. A breed name alone is not a measurement, and a beautiful image is not enough to make a confident choice.

Fernva exists to make those choices calmer and clearer. We focus on practical dimensions, materials, care requirements and the way a product is likely to live in a real home. We encourage every customer to measure their own cat, because even among Maine Coons there is no universal size.

Made with Australian homes in mind

Australian cat households live with warm summers, strong sun, long delivery distances and many different kinds of homes—from compact apartments to spacious family houses. These realities shape what we look for.

Cooling, hydration, coat care, easy cleaning and sensible use of space all matter. So does honest delivery information. We aim to present prices in AUD, explain Australia-wide shipping clearly and give customers enough detail to decide whether an item suits their cat and their home before ordering.

A smaller range, chosen with care

We are not trying to build the biggest pet catalogue. Fernva is deliberately selective.

We look for products that solve a recognisable need for larger or long-haired cats, then consider size, usable space, materials, stability, care requirements and supplier information. If the fit cannot be explained clearly, the claims are unrealistic or the product does not add something useful to the range, it should not earn a place simply to make the shop look fuller.

This restrained approach gives us room to improve the information around each product and helps customers compare fewer, more relevant choices.

Honest retail, clearly explained

Fernva is an independent online retailer. We are not a breeder, animal shelter, veterinary clinic or medical service. Our care content is general owner education and does not replace advice from a qualified veterinarian.

Some orders may be stored, packed or shipped by third-party suppliers and logistics partners. This supports a focused online range without requiring every item to be held in one location. Fernva remains the customer’s point of contact for product questions, order support and returns guidance, and we aim to explain these arrangements without hiding the practical details.

Care continues after checkout

The product is only one part of life with a bigger cat. Good routines—measuring, grooming, checking equipment, observing changes and knowing when to ask a veterinarian—matter just as much.

That is why Fernva also develops practical resources through the Fernva Care Journal and the FERNVA 30 Care Plan. Our goal is to help owners make considered decisions, not to create urgency for its own sake.

What we stand for

  • Size awareness: real measurements before breed-based assumptions.
  • Practical care: useful guidance for coat, comfort, hydration and the home.
  • Restrained selection: fewer products with a clearer reason to exist.
  • Home-conscious design: essentials that can sit naturally in calm, considered interiors.
  • Transparency: clear limits, clear fulfilment and no universal-fit or medical promises.
